

The Compatibility Tool will show you a warning if this controller is known to cause problems.


So, there are a variety of different USB controllers, and not all of them are fully compatible with the Rift. At first I thought this was meaningless since the tool is doing some other silly things (like saying some CPUs aren't compatible even though they're faster than the recommended spec) but then I saw this post on the oculus forums: Apparently the ones on my motherboard (Asmedia controller) are known to cause problems. If you're meeting the recommended specs you may not have bothered to run the compatibility tool, but you should still run it to check your USB 3.0 ports.
